Podcast: Naue's Fully Biodegradable Materials Mimic Geosynthetics

Bentofix®

Geosynthetica's GeoTalk podcast talked to Dr. Helge Hoyme of Naue about creating biodegradable "geosynthetics," the applications that stand to gain the most with these options, and how what’s safe for Dr. Hoyme to eat this new materials. It's safe for wildlife like birds, yet still provides engineering support. It's a fascinating development in sustainable materials.

Featured Products and Services

Bentofix®

Bentofix® is a needle-punched reinforced geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) with two geotextile layers encapsulating a layer of sodium bentonite for sealing applications. Bentofix® “X” types are needlepunched GCLs where the woven fabric is coated with a low permeability and gas-tight polyolefin coating to achieve an immeadiate barrier prior to hydration.

Carbofol®

Carbofol® is a chemical resistant geomembrane with smooth of structure-embossed surface for sealing applications.

Combigrid® – Combigrid® is a composite product of a Secugrid® geogrid, with a needle-punched Secutex® nonwoven geotextile firmly welded between the reinforcement bars, for soil stabilisation, separation and filtration applications.

Secugrid® – Secugrid® is a structurally sound and stable geogrid for soil reinforcement, manufactured of extruded and drawn bars, flat and welded solidly together.

Secudrain® – Secudrain® is a three-dimensional composite product, consisting of a drainage core and firmly attached filter nonwoven geotextiles for drainage applications.

Secumat® – Secumat® is a three-dimensional erosion control mat with a labyrinth-like synthetic core.

Secutex® – Secutex® is a needle-punched staple fibre nonwoven geotextile, some products additionally calendered, used for separation, filtration, protection and drainage.

Terrafix® – Terrafix® is a single- or multi-layer, needle-punched nonwoven for separation, filtration, protection and sand container applications.

m3 – Naue m3 is a Secugrid® reinforced slope and retaining wall system. Multiple material combinations and designs (Clamp, Wrap, Nail, Gabion, Block, Panel, Steel T, Steel P) give the designer a huge array of options for slopes and wall configurations, angles, and aesthetics.
