During the last International Erosion Control Association (IECA) conference and exhibition, Geosynthetica’s Elizabeth Peggs sat down with Beth Chesson, Co-Chair of the IECA Committee on Standards & Practices. The interview was conducted in a bustling exhibit hall–as is apparent in the background–but Beth’s comments are well worth a listen.
Here, Chesson reports on the news from the committee and its various subcommittees, explaining their structures and functions, identifying their goals, and laying out some ambitious timelines.

We started with the idea of addressing the Construction and Development ELG [Effluent Limitation Guideline]…but we have refocused on meeting the expectation of the construction general permit that the EPA put out.

Beth Chesson, CPESC, CPSWQ, is an associate technical specialist with AMEC Environment & Infrastructure UK Limited.  She is based in Durham, North Carolina and intends to run for another term with the IECA Board of Directors to continue contributing to the standards and practices committee.
