D35 Approves New Leak Location Surveys Standard

0
ASTM Committee D35 on Geosynthetics has announced the approval of a new standard: D7852 - Standard Practice for Use of an Electrically Conductive Geotextile for Leak Location Surveys. Developed by Committee D35.10 (Subcommittee on Geomembranes), the scope aims for the standard to be "applicable to all types of geoelectric surveys when there is otherwise not a conductive layer under the geomembrane."

New Leak Location Liner Brochure from GSE

0
GSE Environmental has published a new brochure for its innovative Leak Location Liner. These HDPE and LLDPE geomembranes are manufactured with a co-extruded conductive layer, which allows for quick and thorough leak detection on both exposed and covered applications by using Electrical Liner Integrity (ELI) surveys. Leak Location Liners are designed for use in applications that require the most stringent environmental safeguards, such as Mining, Landfills, Power Generation, and Waste Water Treatment. GSE Holding, Inc., a leading global manufacturer and provider of geosynthetic lining products and services, is pleased to announce the release of a new Leak Location geomembrane with a textured conductive bottom layer. This new combination of unique features provides engineers with increased shear performance for improved slope stability, while also allowing installers to perform Exposed Electrical Liner Integrity Surveys to check for leaks.

Story of a Photo: Leak Location Testing from a Crane

0
While nosing around in Geosynthetica's archives, we happened upon an interesting photo (dated 2004) of Ian Peggs conducting a liner integrity survey while suspended from a crane. Though liner integrity surveys are common, the conditions in which they must be conducted vary wildly. We asked Dr. Peggs if he might offer a few notes about this particular situation. Here's what he shared with us. Read more.

D35 on Electrical Leak Location

0
ASTM Committee D35 on Geosynthetics has announced a new standard, D7703: "Standard Practice for Electrical Leak Location on Exposed Geomembranes Using the Water Lance System." Electrical leak location methods are an effective and proven quality assurance measure to locate previously undetected leaks and check the integrity of a liner. Learn more here.;

Design Primer: When and If You Can Use GeoElectric Technology for Leak Location Surveys

0
Ian Peggs of I-CORP INTERNATIONAL continues Geosynthetica's planned series of primers on geoelectric leak location technology--how it's used with geosynthetic barrier systems, relevant applications, affiliated issues from the field, and more. In this second article, Dr. Peggs addresses essential design criteria for making an installation surveyable.

Training and Certification for Geosynthetic Liner Leak Location Surveyors

0
The benefits of performing geoelectric leak location or liner integrity surveys (LIS) as the final stage of geomembrane liner construction quality assurance are well established. In fact, the NYS DEC, Division of Solid & Hazardous Materials is proposing regulatory changes to their solid waste management regulations that will apply the practice to the floor secondary (lower) liner of new landfill cells as well as to the primary (upper) liner. Read more about this growing movement.
